Why I chose the item:
While I am teaching my students I want to make sure that they are learning the concept of how to write a paper. They need to understand that there are certain steps that make writing less difficult. These are; develop a pre-writing plan, write paper, make sure the main idea is stated clearly in both the opening and closing paragraphs, make sure the paper is well organized, check for correct punctuation, and proofread the final draft. This rubric allows me, as a teacher, to check and see if the students have followed the steps. I decided to use this rubric because it showed a simple and informative way to assess the students on their writing skills.
How I will use it in my classroom:

How I will use it in my classroom:
- I plan to use this rubric to assess my students on each of their writing assignments. I will attach this rubric to their writing to allow them to see what they did well and what they need to work on.
- I will also allow the student to grade themselves how well they thought their own writing was using this rubric.
- It would be great to use these as examples while students created their own self-assessment checklists.
Why I chose this item:
This assessment is a good starting point for students who are learning to read. The assessment demonstrates, using a picture, the difference between two opposite things such as high and low, good and bad, and little and small. This assessment allows the student to see the picture and see the difference between the two things visually. I would then like to further their assessment by taking away the words and have the students tell me which one is high and which one is low, and so on. After they have mastered the two other ways I would then have them verbally explain high and low without using the picture or the words to help. I chose this assessment because it allows the students to begin at a more simple level and work their way to a more difficult assessment.

How I will use it in my classroom:
- I plan to use this assessment as a starting tool for my students when they are learning the difference between two different things.
- This assessment sheet would be great for future lessons or goals for students to focus on for improvement.
- I would use this to assess a student’s ability at the beginning of the unit and how far the student has progressed by the end of the unit.
Why I chose this item:
I chose this item because it allows me to assess the students reading ability. By using the different levels it helps me to see where my students are developmentally with their writing skills. I am also able to use this chart with every student in my class so they are all assessed using the same criteria. This makes the assessment fair when determining which level they are on. This writing rubric will allow me to determine where to begin with and what I need to do for that certain student.
How I will use it in my classroom:
- I plan to use this as a model for creating self-assessment tools for my assignments in the classroom. I will be able to determine what level the student in on and how to proceed.
- These self-assessment charts also provide useful objectives for future lessons or goals for students to focus on for improvement.
